Living Room Design Tips
- 1 Mark the seating group before choosing a rugTape out the rug sizes you are considering with the sofa and chairs in place. Compare which furniture legs sit on it and whether the rug reaches a doorway or walking route.
- 2 Check lighting where you use itIdentify where you read, watch a screen, or talk with guests. Try lamp positions for those activities and check reflections and access to switches before choosing fixtures.
- 3 Keep routes through the seating area clearTrace the routes from the entrance to doors, windows, and storage. Compare seating aimed at the TV, fireplace, or conversation without putting a table in those routes.
- 4 Compare materials with the furniture you keepPlace fabric, wood, or finish samples beside the existing sofa and floor. Check them in your room at different times of day; a generated texture is not a product specification.
- 5 Change one color decision at a timeKeep the main furniture and flooring in view while comparing a wall color or curtain option. Then test smaller accents so you can identify which change improves the combination.
